Sherry has always been interested in art in any shape or form. It all started when she was 10 years old—her mother, brother, and she using her dad’s lunch pail as a tool box. As Sherry says, “I managed travel agencies, was a full-time mom, and worked for the federal prison system. During those years, I was involved in sewing, macramé, decorative painting, paper arts, rubber stamping, catering, gardening … oh, it just goes on and on.
Now, years later, with my husband Jim and almost-adult children, I am fortunate enough to have an opportunity to explore new options. I started teaching paper arts at a local stamp store. In the summer of 2007, I was introduced to Art Clay and immediately became a Level One Certified Instructor. Art Clay has grown to be a passion in me—so much so, that within one year of receiving my Level I Certification, I trained for and received my Art clay Silver Senior Teaching Certificate. That same summer (July 2008), I opened a studio, classroom, retail outlet for Art Clay (the only distributor in Colorado) in a building my husband and I purchased. I not only provide instruction, but carry all of the supplies one would need. I also have a consignment gallery here in Canon City, Colorado. I teach all levels of Art Clay—beginner, specific projects, and all certification levels.
My philosophy is simple: Everyone has a passion, and nourishing this passion is necessary to complete us. My passion is art and inspiring and teaching others.
