 My artistic career began, like most, with a need to release my creative energy. Art classes ranging from ceramics to sculpture to photography were a great source of joy and fulfillment throughout school. In the past, my friends and family have supported my creativity through the purchase of my different works of art. With the aid of their incessant coercion as motivation, I am attempting to get my work to a broader audience. The ultimate goal of my creative work is to share my thoughts and emotions with my viewers.
When making decisions regarding the themes of my work, I try to capture the experience of a moment, rather than the realistic rendering of a scene. Saturated, pure color is used to create form, and these techniques help inspire my paintings. I make no effort to tone the paint, leaving each color in stark contrast to its’ neighbor. These exciting contrasts aid in transferring my visual impressions onto the canvas with a pure and fresh approach.
Presently, with the use of nonsensical colors, I have been creating designs rendering the subjects unrealistic and disproportionate. A purple dog with blurred backgrounds that overemphasizes certain aspects such as paws, head, ears, or any combination would be an example. I strive to convey the subject’s temperament and personality, as this has always been an important theme in my creative works. I will continue challenging my ability to saturate canvas with energy and emotion using
the simplest textures, shapes, and colors.
